POSITION DETAILS

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college offering 60 associate and bachelor’s degree programs in downtown Brooklyn. The Office of Enrollment Management at City Tech welcomes applications for a full-time Enrollment Registrar Director position (also known as the Registrar) at the Higher Education Officer rank.

Reporting to the Interim Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Registrar provides strategic planning, direction, and supervision for all activities pertaining to the Office of the Registrar. The Registrar is responsible for upholding the integrity and security of student academic records; oversees all administrative and operational activities associated with registration; maintains student academic records; ensures that transcripts are provided to authorized parties, certifies graduation; implements course scheduling; manages and supervises the Registrar’s Office; reporting; works collaboratively with Academic Affairs to provide relevant support on all curricular matters; acts as liaison to CUNY central; works with a core team of CUNY’s Enterprise Resource Planning system (CUNYfirst) to develop strategies that address ongoing implementation efforts, training, user documentation, and system testing.

The Registrar will manage day-to-day operations and supervise the Registrar’s Office. With responsibility for 10 professional staff and 8 support staff, this is a position for a skilled manager of people and programs. The Registrar will foster a team environment that sets clear expectations and is cohesive, imaginative, and results-oriented. The Registrar will be responsible for delivering a high level of service to students, faculty, and staff and will focus on transformational activities that will develop the office to be best-in-class.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Registrar will:

  • Manage, coordinate, and implement all phases of the registration process.

  • Develop and implement core business processes, policies, and procedures that lead administrative and daily operational activities for the Registrar’s Office.

  • Partner with the Interim Assistant Vice President for Enrollment in the strategic development, implementation publication of the Master Course File, and creation of the academic calendar.

  • Analyze and delegate assignments to ensure maximum utilization of staff capacities.

  • Support the development and implementation of new technology and the enhancements of existing applications.

  • Verify students’ degree completion requirements at appropriate points in their programs and communicate with Academic Program Directors and Deans as needed.

  • Oversee and manage CUNYfirst, DegreeWorks, Navigate, and Coursedog platforms and conduct regularly-scheduled training workshops to support Academic Affairs and Enrollment Management.

  • Oversee and provide access to CUNYfirst, DegreeWorks, Navigate, and Coursedog to local campus users.

  • Ensure timely response to student, faculty, and staff inquiries and develop an infrastructure/mechanism to provide high-quality service.

  • Serve as the College’s FERPA resource manager and compliance officer.

  • Partner with Senior Administration to develop enrollment strategies and retention initiatives to increase institutional enrollment.

  • Serve on various College and University-wide academic and administrative committees.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree and 8 year’s related experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree preferred.

  • Experience in a leadership role in a Registrar's Office, including management of staff members.

  • Prior experience with PeopleSoft (preferred) or other related ERP System is highly desirable.

  • Proven track record of leadership in a higher education environment.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail and adherence to academic and administrative policies.

  • Ability to design and execute effective and creative solutions to problems.

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

VACCINE REQUIREMENT

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Directs College registration operations and serves as Registrar.

  • Provides leadership in advancing the College's enrollment goals and is responsible for all activities associated with the registration process

  • Develops strategic plan to address student enrollment, registration activities, data collection and dissemination, records confidentiality and degree audit protocol; assures quality of testing and implementation of system updates

  • Oversees a wide array of enrollment and retention initiatives and special projects; recommends and administers enhanced technology applications to improve processing systems and data integrity

  • Assesses outcomes and formulates responses to meet established goals and objectives; presents performance results data to facilitate executive decision-making

  • Ensures reporting requirements are completed in timely and accurate manner to fulfill various legal obligations; maintains audit trails

  • Manages professional and clerical staff as well as department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$90,634 – $111,560. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
