The State University of New York, Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center, provides tuition free academic and workforce development training to eligible New York State residents, providing a pathway to lifelong learning, college access and economic self-sufficiency.

The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) Advanced Technology Training and Information Networking (ATTAIN) resource lab is a statewide initiative funded by New York State to provide urban and rural communities access to state-of-the-art technology. ATTAIN resource labs provide underserved and underprepared communities, the opportunity to access free online training programs in academic, vocational, life skills and workplace readiness.

Under the supervision of the Director of Academic Affairs at SUNY Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center and in coordination with the Statewide Coordinator, the ATTAIN Lab Coordinator will provide online and onsite facilitation of learning to Brooklyn EOC students and community residents in downtown Brooklyn.

The duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide initial orientation for all new lab users and ensure compliance with EOC policies and procedures.

  • Provide student support online and at on-site learning stations as needed.

  • Schedule students for ISI courseware, Edmentum, Aztec and Microsoft training modules and help to develop training pathways for students based on available lab resources.

  • Monitor student progress through the resource lab’s management system.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and leadership of the EOC to support students seeking academic and workforce development training.

  • Participate in EOC outreach efforts to encourage TANF, TANF 200%, and community residents to apply and complete programs in the ATTAIN lab.

  • Proctor certification exams as needed.

  • Provide administrative support to EOC supervisor and ATTAIN Statewide Coordinator in preparation of Implementation Plan.

  • Provide supervision of part-time and work study staff as needed.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Flexible schedule: Day and evening hours are required.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors' degree required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; certification in Word or Excel preferred.

  • Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills, and the capability to work independently.

  • Prior professional experience working directly with non-traditional students, including those with academic deficits.

  • Customer service orientation is essential, as is the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students and external constituents.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.


Provides operational and analytical support for a learning resource center in an Educational Opportunity Center (EOC).

  • Assists in providing academic resources such as tutoring, remedial and/or other targeted student support services

  • Maintains center records including student files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on center activities; updates Center web pages

  • Assists with the planning, scheduling and execution of training programs, lectures, workshops, meetings and special events

  • Serves as resource for students and faculty on center policies and procedures; conducts basic research as assigned

  • May schedule individual and group sessions for students

  • May supervise part-time and/or clerical staff; may monitor department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
