FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The State University of New York, Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC), administered by New York City College of Technology/CUNY, provides tuition free academic and workforce development training to eligible New York State residents, providing a pathway to lifelong learning, college access and economic self-sufficiency.
The EOC Lecturer for the High School Equivalency (HSE) program performs teaching and related faculty functions. The incumbent will serve as a lead instructor in the program, with release time to assist with coordinating program development and student preparation for GED readiness testing.
GENERAL DUTIES
Teach all levels of High School Equivalency Program courses
Prepare and deliver student lectures in-person and online as needed
Advise students on their academic progress
Maintain attendance and student records and submit them according to published guidelines
Participate in curriculum development
Identify and use learning outcomes and assessment that lead to course and program improvements
Assist in coordinating student preparation for GED readiness testing
Liaise with College Connections advisor who provides college access information
Participate in professional development to maintain currency in field
Work closely with student advisors and other staff to assist in developing
student success strategies
Participate in departmental and Center-wide assignments in advancement of the educational aims of the Center
Evening or weekend assignments may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree in related area preferred
Three to five years’ experience in teaching HSE or adult education
Experience in integration of technology in the classroom and using technology-based instruction that enhances student performance.
COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $59,258 to $76,870
