CUNY Finance Coordinator - Accounts Payable (2 Positions) in Brooklyn, New York
Brooklyn College invites applications for two Finance Coordinator positions in the department of Accounts Payable.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Accounts Payable, the Finance Coordinator (Coordinator of Accounts Payable) will assist with the daily operations of the Office of Accounts Payable, ensuring payments to vendors are processed in a timely manner for tax levy accounts. The Coordinator will assist with implementing payment processing procedures according to State Comptroller, University, and College guidelines. The Finance Coordinator will also collaborate with the Offices of Purchasing and Contracting, Financial Reporting, Fiscal and Business Services Center, and Accounting.
In addition to the CUNY Title overview, the Finance Coordinator's duties include:
Process checks from various funding sources. Void and reissue checks, and process payments in CUNYFirst.
Review open purchase orders, and follow up with campus offices and departments to reconcile outstanding orders.
Monitor payments for recurring annual and monthly commitments.
Participate in year-end closing activities.
Assist in implementing and monitoring suitable internal controls.
Assist campus offices and departments in the use of the CUNYfirst Receiving module
Correspond and communicate effectively with vendors and departments regarding outstanding invoices. Resolve pending issues with vendors and departments.
Provide information to faculty and staff on travel policies and reimbursement procedures.
Assist with the cross training of full-time and part-time staff.
Bachelor's Degree required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Finance, Accounting or Economics is preferred.
At least one year of related experience is preferred.
The successful candidate will have strong analytical and technology skills and ability to work with others for the good of the institution.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, planning and organizational skills are preferred.
Knowledge of computerized systems, such as PeopleSoft and/or CUNYfirst, is highly preferred.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Performs financial analysis and administrative work related to College or unit accounting.
Prepares, reconciles and distributes expenditure and related accounting reports
Creates and maintains various spreadsheets related to financial analysis
Processes and tracks transactional entries
Provides support in the administration of various business operations
Coordinates with various departments on accounting matters
Monitors systems and operations to assure a smooth workflow
Performs related duties as assigned.
