FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college offering 60 associate and bachelor’s degree programs in downtown Brooklyn. The Biological Sciences Department at City Tech invites applications for a Lecturer position to begin Spring or Fall 2023. This is a full-time faculty position that leads to a certificate of continuous employment.

The Biological Sciences Department is composed of a diverse group of faculty members with an impressive combination of backgrounds and specialties. In order to support its baccalaureate program in Biomedical Informatics, the department seeks candidates for a Lecturer position in the following fields: Anatomy and Physiology and/or Biology.

The Lecturer will teach and share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. Courses taught will depend on faculty specialty, and will include courses in Anatomy and Physiology and General Biology. Preference will be given to candidates who can also teach Genetics, Cell & Molecular Biology, and Microbiology.

The Lecturer is expected to be committed to excellence in teaching and contribute to the Biological Sciences Department, the School of Arts and Sciences, the College, and the University, in service of their missions. Service expectations include working collaboratively to support advisement, recruitment, retention, assessment, curricular development and improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with a focus in Anatomy and Physiology or a related field in Biomedical Sciences, and the ability to teach successfully.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Biological Sciences with a focus in Anatomy and Physiology or a related field in Biomedical Sciences preferred. Teaching experience, with a commitment to quality education for a diverse student body, is strongly preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in online teaching, curriculum development, and use of innovative instructional methods. Candidates should have strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.

Vaccine Requirement

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

COMPENSATION

$69.665 - $88,998
