FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn, offering 51 associate and baccalaureate degrees in the technologies, art and design, business, computer systems, entertainment, healthcare, hospitality, human services, paralegal studies, education and the liberal arts, invites applications for a lecturer position, a tenure-bearing title through a certificate of continuous employment (CCE), to begin in fall 2022, in the Department of Environmental Control Technology.
The Department of Environmental Control Technology is the only program of the City University of New York that specializes in the design, installation, and operation of HVACR systems. We offer an AAS in Environmental Control Technology and a B. Tech degree in Facilities Management.
Teaching courses in the diverse areas of the Environmental Control Technology curriculum including, but not limited to: physical principles, thermodynamics, computer–aided drawing, hydronic systems, refrigeration, combustion, energy efficiency and management, heating and cooling loads, psychrometrics, design of water- and air-based heating and air conditioning systems, controls. Ability to teach courses in Facilities Management related to mechanical systems operation and maintenance is a plus.
Engaging in program development, recruitment, and student advisement. Committee participation is expected, as well as other department, college, university and/or community contributions.
Day, evening, and weekend curriculum and department duties may be required.
In addition to teaching, this position offers an opportunity to develop curriculum and programs in a dynamic and highly regarded department with strong links to industry.
Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
A Master’s degree or a Professional Licensure in Engineering or Architecture is desirable, as are other industry-related certifications. Higher education teaching experience is preferred.
The successful candidate will have significant knowledge of the principles and practices in building Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) system design and installation. Experience with common tools and instruments used in the HVACR field as well as the ability to demonstrate them is desirable
