New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn, offering 60 associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a Lecturer position in the Department of Health Sciences, to begin in Fall 2022. This is a full-time position leading to a Certificate of Continuous Employment.

The Department of Health Sciences offers an AS in Health Science, a BS in Health Services Administration and a newly launched BS in Healthcare Policy and Management. The curriculum covers health safety, health dynamics, health policy and management principles, health law and compliance, health care financing and accounting, health management and information systems, health research methods, and medical metrics. In addition to teaching, the successful applicant is expected to engage in program and curriculum development, assessment, both in-person and online teaching, as well as department, college, university projects.

The position requires a commitment to teaching, sustained service to the department and college, and academic advisement. Continued professional growth in the field is expected.

Duties include:

  • Teach courses in the diverse offerings of the Department of Health Sciences.

  • Work collaboratively on department level efforts, playing an active role in the creation, development, and assessment of new curricula and pedagogy.

  • Participate actively in Department/College/University-wide initiatives.

  • Provide student advisement and guidance.

  • Day, evening, and weekend teaching and department duties required as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related clinical field and the ability to teach successfully.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Health Administration, Public Administration, Public Health, or a related clinical field.

• 5 years post master’s employment in the health care industry is strongly preferred.

• Higher education teaching experience with exposure to online course delivery and learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard) is highly desirable.
