FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn offering 60 associate and baccalaureate degrees. The Human Services Department at City Tech invites applications for a lecturer position, to begin in Spring or Fall 2023. This is a full-time faculty position that leads to a certificate of continuous employment.

The Human Services Department offers an AAS and BS in Human Services and trains students in the theory and practice of human services to become reflective practitioners and change agents, supporting multiple facets of health while working from case to cause to have a positive impact on individuals, families, and communities. The Human Services programs are accredited by the Council for Standards in Human Service Education (CSHSE).

The Lecturer will teach and share responsibility for committee and department assignments including

administrative, supervisory, and other functions. In addition to teaching, this position offers an opportunity to develop curriculum and pedagogy, engage with students, and contribute to the vitality of a dynamic and highly regarded department with strong links to the field. The Lecturer is expected to be committed to excellence in teaching, sustained service to the department, college and university, including academic advisement, assessment and support of reaccreditation.

Duties include:

  • Teach courses in the diverse offerings of the Human Service, including but not limited to - introduction to human services, field practicum, research methods, community organization.

  • Work collaboratively on department-level efforts, playing an active role in the development, implementation and assessment of new curricula and pedagogy

  • Participate actively in Department/College/University-wide initiatives

  • Student advisement and guidance

  • Day, evening, and weekend teaching and department duties may be required

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

BSW or a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related subject or discipline that complements the Human Services curriculum, and the ability to teach successfully.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSW, Master’s Degree, or Ph.D. in a related subject or discipline that complements the Human Service Curriculum is strongly preferred.

  • Five (5) or more years of post-master’s practice experience, including strong leadership and supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of clinical internship and diverse community-based organizations preferred.

  • A history of significant clinical field experience, including strong leadership, supervisory experience, knowledge of clinical internships, and diverse community-based organizations.

  • Previous higher education teaching is highly desirable. Presentations, panels, workshop coordination, community involvement, and/or other related experiences preferred.

  • Proficiency in Blackboard or other LMS for online learning pedagogy preferred.

Vaccine Requirement

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment. All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to their campus.

COMPENSATION

$69.665 - $88,998
