FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn offering 60 associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a Nursing lecturer position to begin in fall 2023.This is a full-time position that leads to a certificate of continuous employment.

The Nursing Department at City Tech is part of the School of Professional Studies, a multidisciplinary unit that also includes radiology, human services, dental technology, and vision care. The Department of Nursing currently offers an AAS and BS in Nursing, the latter for registered nurses. The Lecturer will join a team of fellow Nursing faculty committed to educating the next generation of nurses, providing excellent teaching and service to sustain the vitality of the Department and College. Nursing faculty teach across both curricula in didactic and clinical courses. Both the AAS and BS degree programs are fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and are registered by the New York State Education Department.

This position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching, and sustained service to the department and college.Responsibilites of the lecturer position include teaching courses in the associate degree or baccalaureate program and service to the department, college and university. Responsibilities also include student advisement and mentoring, curricular development and improvements, assessment, contributions to accreditation requirements and other administrative duties. Weekend and evening hours may be required.

Duties include:

  • Teach laboratory or lecture courses in Nursing at the associate and bachelor’s level

  • Prepare quality course material for lecture and laboratory sessions, including but not limited to lectures clinical/laboratory lessons plans, OSCEs (objective structured clinical examinations), including assessment methods

  • Prepare students to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners before entering the nursing profession.

  • Prepare students for licensure

  • Participate in ongoing student and faculty recruitment activities such as high school visits and open houses.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s in Nursing or related field and current NYS RN license, and the ability to teach succesfully.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed or completion of a Master’s degree by date of initial appointment, in Nursing or a closely related field is preferred. A doctorate in Nursing or a closely related field is a plus.

  • Five (5) or more years of full-time professional practice in the clinical nursing experience, and strong upto-

  • date knowledge in the field of Nursing, are highly desirable.

  • Ability to teach teach courses in the core curriculum of the AAS and BS degree programs via in person,

  • online and hybrid modalities.

  • Previous college-level teaching experience, including experience in a diverse, multicultural setting is

  • preferred. A commitment to quality education for a diverse student body is preferred.

  • Vaccinations for healthcare providers as recommended by the CDC.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

  • Computer skills should include competence in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Vaccine Requirement

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

COMPENSATION

$69.665 - $88,998
