New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn, invites applications for a Lecturer in Physics to begin Fall 2022. As the largest public college of technology in New York State, associate and baccalaureate degrees are offered in technology and health-related degree programs and other career-oriented degrees.

The Physics Department has 11 full-time faculty members engaged in cutting-edge research programs in high-energy physics, condensed matter physics, astrophysics, laser physics, machine learning, and quantum information. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Computational Physics, as well as a physics minor.

The successful candidate for this position will be expected to teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory physics courses for science and non-science majors, including but not limited to the standard general physics curriculum, to be actively involved in the everyday life of the Physics Department, and to serve on a variety of committees at the Departmental and College-wide level. This position requires an enthusiastic individual with a commitment to quality education for a diverse student body, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


Minimum qualifications

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

Preferred qualifications

• An M.S. or Ph.D. degree in physics or an adjacent field.

• Prior experience in teaching undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses at the college level.

• A strong commitment to teaching a diverse student body.

• Previous experience with hybrid, HyFlex, and online teaching.

• Ability to teach advanced courses in the Applied Computational Physics degree program:
