Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty-three colleges within the dynamic City University New York (CUNY) System. Named for the late civil rights leader, Medgar Wiley Evers (1925-1963), the College's mission is to develop and maintain high quality, professional, career-oriented undergraduate degree programs in the context of liberal education.

Located in Central Brooklyn, MEC was established in 1970 with a mandate to meet the educational and social needs of the Central Brooklyn community, currently enrolling 7,000 students in degree programs. Students represent 105 countries around the world! MEC students obtain Associate degrees in 8 fields, and Baccalaureate degrees in 18 fields. They are instructed by over 208 Full-time dedicated faculty members who must maintain a portfolio of scholarship and research. To meet the needs of its students, the College offers courses and programs at various times, is growing their online program offerings, and in offsite locations. The College is committed to a student-centered education and advancing knowledge through scholarly research.

In recent years, the college has undergone tremendous growth in student enrollment and expansion in physical facilities. The college enrolls about seven thousand students including close to three thousand students in the School of Science Health and Technology. The School offers B.S. degree programs in Biology, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Mathematics and Nursing, AS programs in science and AAS and PN programs in Nursing.

The Department of Nursing enrolls about three-four hundred students in its, PN, AAS and B.S. degree programs. The department is located in a new state-of-the-art, $247 million School of Science Building with well-equipped smart classrooms, teaching labs and research modules. The Department of Nursing has four technologically advanced teaching/skills labs, simulation equipment and a specialized computer lab.

The Department of Nursing seeks applications for full-time faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank as well as Instructor rank. The Professorial Titles will be Tenure track. The new faculty will teach undergraduate associate degree and the RN- BS Completion program.

Faculty members are required to mentor students, oversee and supervise students in clinical courses, provide student advisement, participate in department and college-wide committees, engage in research & scholarly activities, participate in course and curriculum development, accreditation activities and engage in community service. Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.


For Assistant, Associate or Full Professor:

Ph.D. degree in nursing or EdD in nursing education or equivalent area(s) of experience, A master's degree in nursing. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

The qualified candidate must have clinical expertise in at least one of the following: Community Health Nursing, pediatrics, psychiatric, and medical/surgical nursing and a current license as a registered nurse in New York State.

For Instructor:

Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and/or active progress toward a Doctorate, or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
