The Office of the Registrar at City Tech welcomes applications for Registrar Specialist.The Registrar Specialist will report directly to the Registrar Director and be responsible for coordinating many operational aspects of the office. The Registrar Specialist must demonstrate expertise in implementing new technology and knowledge of current issues and innovations in the field.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Registrar Specialist will:

  • Serve as project coordinator and work closely with IT staff, the DegreeWorks coordinator, and the college community to create and maintain Student Educational Planner (SEP) functionality configurations for City Tech.

  • Serve as the campus Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Student Educational Planner functionality in DegreeWorks

  • Assist with faculty and staff training with Student Educational Planner and other platforms maintained by the Office of the Registrar on policy and procedures.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures regarding registration, student records, class schedules and graduation requirements.

  • Participate in the implementation of the 9.2 upgrade of the University's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system at City Tech.

  • Maintain and implement academic policies as they evolve through governance process.

  • Assist the Registrar Director in establishing and implementing department goals and operating procedures as well as monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness.


Bachelor's Degree and four years'records experience in a college or university Registrar's Office or an equivalent combination of education or experience.

Preferred qualificaitons:

-A functional knowledge of CUNYfirst, DegreeWorks, FACTS, and the flow of data from one system to another.

-Strong preference for proficiency in Ellucian DegreeWorks

-Ability to creatively and logically to solve problems and multi-task effectively.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

-Ability to interact with all levels of personnel and diverse populations.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Demonstrated data management skills and related reporting capabilities; and strong analytical skills.

  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and student information systems.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while consistently meeting deadlines.

-Able to be tactful and diplomatic in dealing with difficult issues and/or diverse organizations.


Administers College registration operations under management direction.

  • Coordinates registration services such as grade collection entries and changes, publication of semester course offerings, final examination schedules, classroom scheduling and requests for student information

  • Promotes policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations; advises College personnel regarding the development and implementation of responses to regulatory changes

  • Oversees the conformity of record release procedures to management policies and legal requirements, including the Family Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable laws and regulations governing the confidentiality of student records

  • Creates and reviews student communications from the Registrar's Office; ensures transcript and Degree verification requests are handled in a timely manner

  • Recommends and implements improvements to office operations; assists with strategic planning

  • Prepares reports and analyses on registration activities

  • May train faculty and staff on retention techniques, record-keeping protocol and/or registration systems

  • May supervise office operations and/or department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
