The Student Life Specialist at Kingsborough Community College will report to the Director of Student Life. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview duties include but are not limited to:
-Serve as advisor to the Student Government Association and Campus Activities Board (SGA’s major programming body), including advising on day-to-day operations, guiding through program-related policies and procedures, oversight of annual SGA elections process, plan/execute annual weekend training retreats, monitoring of budget, and chaperoning off-campus/overnight events.
-Serve as coordinator for Kingsborough’s Student Ambassador Program, including coordinating the recruitment, selection and training of all program participants, developing the annual training curriculum, selection and training of student/staff training team, planning/execution of weekend training retreat, and coordination/tracking of student ambassador volunteer activities/hours.
-Develop, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate student leadership development and recognition initiatives in the areas of inter-/intra-personal skills, group dynamics, social responsibility, leadership theory, and active involvement.
-Assist with the coordination of Office of Student Life events, including but not limited to Welcome Week, evening student programs, orientation, service projects, campus-wide voter registration efforts etc. and provide collaborative support for other campus programs/events that cultivate a diverse and healthy campus experience for the student body.
-Assist management in developing and implementing programs, workshops, and services in support of general student affairs goals as well as develop/conduct related assessments and research.
-Assist with interpretation and implementation of University policies and procedures.
-Collaborate with Academic and co-curricular departments to identify and support student development initiatives and serve as college liaison to University-related projects, serving on committees for campus-wide initiatives (i.e. Civic Engagement, ECOFest, Mobile App, etc.).
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
A minimum of four (4) years relevant experience in an urban higher education setting preferred. Two or more years of student involvement in student activities or student development work as a college student preferred. Such experience can include but is not limited to college unions and student activities.
Ability to work independently and be able to carry out complex assignments.
Computer literacy a must. Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication and writing skills, as well as professional leadership and decision-making skills, required.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as needed.

Develops and implements programming, services, and learning opportunities for students, promoting the personal development of a diverse student population.
Administers one or more student affairs programs, providing program management, assistance with policy development, supervision and training of all professional and support staff, budget monitoring, and report preparation
Serves as a resource to student groups and/or populations as a consultant and advocate for their concerns
Researches and stays current on higher education programs, trends, and issues with student impact
Produces workshops and materials to support student programs; manages on-line communities; develops on-line social networking activities, and develops and maintains multimedia content on program web sites
Performs related duties as assigned.
