FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Stella and Charles Guttman Community College at CUNY is currently seeking Adjunct faculty with expertise in Humanities and a focus in Anthropology during the Fall 2 (January 6 – February 26, 2020) session. Adjunct faculty performs teaching, research and guidance duties related to the course description below. Adjunct faculty share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
Sexuality and Gender in Urban Life: This course examines the social construction of gender and sexuality throughout the history and across cultures as a part of the urban experience. From the historical shifts in the organization of marriage and reproduction, social mores about homosexuality and gender variance, and cross-cultural narratives of sex taboos and allowances, we examine theories and examples to understand gender and sexuality as central aspects of the urban experience. Our coursework will blend historical analysis, current events, and guest speakers on topics such as the history of the gay and lesbian experience in New York City, the current and policing of domestic violence, gender roles and parenting, and the movement for transgender rights, and public health and HIV/AIDS.
For Adjunct Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required is the ability to teach successfully.
For Adjunct Lecturer:
Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
Experience teaching in a community college.
Adjunct Lecturer: $71.59 - $89.12
Adjunct Assistant Professor: $81.20 - $96.38/hr
Adjunct Associate Professor: $87.54 - $107.28/hr
Adjunct Professor: $97.11 - $118.19/hr
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
