FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Stella and Charles Guttman Community College at CUNY seeks adjunct faculty to teach first-year Statistics courses. These Statistics courses are part of Guttman’s inquiry-based, first-year curriculum (“First-Year Experience” or “FYE”). This position will begin in the Spring I Session, (3/05/2022 to 6/15/2022), with prior participation in our online Winter Bridge program beginning on 2/21/2022. For this position, the successful candidate will possess expertise in statistical analysis with a background in a mathematics or social science discipline that reflects qualification for and interest in this position.
In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use effective pedagogical and technology-based strategies that enable the success of all students. Adjunct faculty perform teaching and guidance duties related to the course descriptions below.
MATH 103: STATISTICS
This is an introductory statistics course. Students are taught to use estimation and precision and will learn the math study skills to assess and enhance their learning, their processes and their results. Students will use statistical software, graphing calculators, Microsoft Excel, MyMathLab and MyStatsLab to carry out a semester-long project involving data description and analysis. Students will work collaboratively and write using appropriate mathematical and non-mathematical language in order to successfully complete their project.
MATH 103A STATISTICS A AND MATH 103B STATISTICS B
MATH 103 A and MATH 103 B are a year-long version, offered in two sequential parts, of MATH 103.
For Adjunct Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required is the ability to teach successfully.
For Adjunct Lecturer:
Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
For Adjunct Lecturer: Master’s degree.
For Adjunct Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor: Experience teaching in a community college. Demonstrated ability in most of the following:
Teaching students of diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic and educational backgrounds
Active, student-centered pedagogy and significant student mentoring experience
Use of current technology as it supports teaching and learning
Ability to work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment
Adjunct Lecturer: $$77.49 - $96.47/hr
Adjunct Assistant Professor: $87.89 - $104.32/hr
Adjunct Associate Professor: $94.76 - $116.12/hr
Adjunct Professor: $105.11 - $127.93/hr
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
