FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Community Health and Social Medicine (CHASM) at the CUNY School of Medicine plays a critical and leading role in our mission-driven BS/MD program aimed at recruiting those who are under-represented in medicine and producing broadly educated, highly skilled primary care practitioners to provide patient-centered community-oriented care to underserved communities. The Medical School’s curriculum is centered on a comprehensive effort to educate our students in the social, economic, political, and behavioral determinants of health and disease, with a focus on population health, community engagement, health care policy and eliminating health inequities. The Department research agenda is centered on advancing health equity and eliminating racial and other intersecting inequities through chronic disease epidemiology, health behavior, upstream health policy and systems, health services and community-based research.

The CHASM department is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer for the Spring 2022 semester for the MED 22409: Population Health and Community Health Assessment course.

This course is focused on understanding and conducting community health assessments using a range of research methods. Using active and engaged learning approaches, students will acquire the knowledge and skills required to conduct a community health assessment. This course employs lectures, interactive activities, data collection, database use, data management and statistical analyses, discussions, field exercises, and group projects, to characterize community health in New York City, the United States, and elsewhere.

Adjunct Lecturers can expect to dedicate approximately 12-15 hours/week to the course (includes class prep, teaching of virtual class, in person class time, virtual office hours, grading).

Performs teaching and related faculty functions in area(s) of expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A master’s level or doctoral level degree in biostatistics is preferred

COMPENSATION

$75.97 - $94.57 per hour. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
