Reporting to the Associate Director for Recruiting and Internships at the Starr Career Development Center, the successful candidate will assist in managing the multitude of small and large-scale events hosted by the Center. This person will also help ensure smooth internal operations, while triaging students' and other constituents' inquiries. The Administrative Events Coordinator will help coordinate student workers and help with marketing and event logistics. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, teamwork, and detail orientation to interface with diverse undergraduates and represent the Center to its many external stakeholders. The Starr Career Development Center (Starr) is a fast-paced, highly utilized student service which provides comprehensive career services to Baruch's 16,000 undergraduates from the time they enter as freshman through graduation, with additional services for alumni.

  • Assist the Employer Relations team in planning, preparing for, and executing Center’s signature events, workshops, panels and large-scale programs for students from all three schools and majors.

  • Collect data and evaluation to assess the effectiveness of Center’s events, programs and workshops paying attention to the college’s diverse undergraduate population;

  • Coordinate employer presentations including room reservations, food ordering, and equipment, and market events to students and faculty

  • Create marketing materials, update Center’s handouts and materials and develop content for website and weekly newsletters

  • Manage the front office operations by ensuring sufficient staff and coverage for the front office

  • Coordinate opening and closing of the Starr Career Development Center

  • Recruit, train and provide ongoing supervision/professional development for student interns working at the Center

  • Coordinate Peers and Interns’ schedule, monitor and assess the need of student appointments throughout the semester

  • Maintain department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing

  • Represent unit to internal and external organizations and vendors

  • Assist in leading first Year Seminar each fall and or spring semester


Bachelor's Degree required.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced complex team environment


Assists in planning, preparing for, and executing special events of various kinds.

  • Assists in logistical and program planning for seminars, conferences, and special events.

  • Represents unit to internal and external organizations and vendors, handling many inquiries independently.

  • Organizes correspondence, accounts, contracts, and billing for all events.

  • Creates and distributes marketing communications and materials; create and distribute any required event materials.

  • Coordinates invitations, reservations, and ticket arrangements as needed; manages travel arrangements and/or special guest requirements.

  • Assures technology and equipment are available as needed and operate properly.

  • Collects information to evaluate program/event success, and report results to management.
