The Administrative Officer reports to the Dean. He/she/they will have primary responsibility for budgets, facilities, and the administration of staff.

FACILITIES: The position will directly oversee, in conjunction with the AVP of facilities, all facility issues including the construction, renovation and maintenance of the site. Furthermore, the Administrative Officer will be responsible for optimizing space utilization through external rentals.

BUDGET : The position will plan, organize, coordinate, evaluate, and direct the School of Social Work’s budget formulation, analysis, and management activities. The Administrative Officer will generate and organize institutional data on space utilization to support allocation of resources and facilitates. Routinely maintain budgets and plan appropriate use of all School of Social Work funding sources to develop and implement non- credit revenue sources. The Administrative Officer will formulate, prepare, and oversee financial planning and the budgeting process for the School of Social Work. The position will be responsible for financial reporting, preparation of financial statements, statistical reports, and funding determinations. The position will also develop projections of revenue and expenditures and construct alternative financial models for use in financial planning.

OPERATIONS: The position will provide support for other programs within the building, including Centro. The position will also liaison and work jointly with Public Safety on Security initiatives in order to ensure the safety and security of the campus. The Administrative Officer, in conjunction with ICIT, will oversee all aspects of technology at the Silberman campus.


Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required.

As a senior staff member in a large academic or administrative department, division, or school, manages operations and administration, participates in planning and setting priorities, and oversees related projects to ensure their success.

  • Works with management to create short- and long-term business plans, including operational, organization, and financial aspects.

  • Works with management and others to develop and implement operating policies and procedures.

  • Manages the ongoing financial, operational, and staffing activities of the department.

  • Manages operating budget and performs analysis and reporting to support decision-making.

  • Oversees legal, safety, fiscal, and other compliance requirements.

  • Oversees facilities, technology, and materials utilized in the department, coordinating with appropriate Campus services.

  • Works with other Campus or University units to coordinate and plan fund-raising, grants, marketing, communications, and outreach activities.

  • Independently carries out a portfolio of responsibilities under the department's purview, such as managing committees, securing approvals, and providing communications.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
