POSITION DETAILS

The City College of New York provides high-quality higher education to culturally, socially, economically, and academically diverse students from underserved populations. The Department of Psychology, the largest department at the College includes a Clinical PhD Program which houses the Psychological Center. The Center has been in existence for over 50 years providing a range of long-and short-term psychological services to the College that include individual and group psychotherapy, couples' therapy, psychological screenings, and evaluations as well as psychological/neuropsychological testing.

The Administrative Specialist will report to the Director of the Psychological Center at The City College of New York. In addition to the CUNY title Overview, the Administrative Specialist duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Trains, supervises, motivates, and manages a team of students and staff professionals in implementing and monitoring the Psychology Center's ongoing operations

• Manages clients, third party vendor budgets and coordinates purchasing, accounting, and payroll

• Plans and implements teaching schedules for all academic programs (undergraduate, master's, and doctoral)

• Supervises and trains support staff and student workers

• Manages all incoming doctoral students and supervision schedules

• Works with the Clinical Director and Program Director to monitor all intakes and therapeutic appointments

• Track and monitor all appointments and schedules

• Retrieves, analyzes, and utilizes relevant data to inform planning, decision making, and management practice

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a commitment to improving student outcomes; strong administrative skills to effectively manage the day-to-day operations of the Psychology Center, works well with faculty, staff, and students; meet deadlines; and work independently. The candidate should also possess and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, faculty, and staff, have strong organizational skills and communication skills, and knowledge of database programs.

Vaccine Requirement:

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

Please note: Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work in the office.

  • Manages budget and coordinates purchasing, accounting, and payroll.

  • Provides instructions and basic advice to students, faculty, and others seeking information on department activities, policies, and schedules.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

$52,267- $79,188: Salary commensurate with education and experience.
