The CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) at The City College of New York (CCNY) located in the heart of Harlem, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Senior Advisor's duties will include but is not limited to:

  • Expand the communications network between prospective students and the Office of Admissions administrators.

  • Plan, create, and manage communications and recruitment through use of social media platforms, e.g.,Facebook,Twitter, Instagram, etc..

  • Create a targeted social media campaign to expand recruitment and communications with prospective students.

  • Maintain a communications network of shared information with CCNY and various CUNY college admissions offices.

  • Serve as host for virtual college fairs through use of social media platforms.

  • Liaison with CSOM-IT and CCNY-IT to help provide IT support to the Sophie Davis/CSOM Office of Admissions.

  • Provide admissions information to parents, school counselors, teachers, assistant principals, program coordinators through virtual and in-person visits.

  • Attend and actively participate in virtual and in-person out of state college fairs and other events or activities that attract students who are underrepresented in medicine.

  • Conducts and coordinates student recruiting and other admissions activities.


Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and managing targeted social medial campaigns on multiple platforms for an educational institution or non-profit organization.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.

  • Familiarity and/or proficiency in CUNYFirst.

  • Proficiency in Hobsons or a related data management system.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and to adhere to project deadlines.


Conducts and coordinates student recruiting and other admissions activities.

  • Counsels prospective, transfer, and current students on their academic goals and how they may be achieved at the College, and assists them in preparing academic plans

  • Provides referrals to other College departments as needed to further assist student/applicant

  • Conducts follow-up with students from inquiry stage to registration

  • Reviews applications and provides preliminary recommendations on admissions

  • Participates in recruitment programs such as open house sessions, and direct recruiting activities

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
