The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness is housed within the Provost's Office of the Graduate Center and provides leadership in the areas of institutional research, institutional assessment, data governance and analytics, information sharing and communication, and regional accreditation.

The Assessment Specialist will support the Outcomes Assessment Committee to develop effective strategies for the academic assessment of student learning outcomes at the program level. The Assessment Specialist will also be responsible for supporting the work of the Graduate Center’s assessment of its administrative offices as well as its centers and institutes. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Institutional Effectiveness.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the Graduate Center’s student learning assessment cycle in accordance with accreditation requirements and in support of institutional effectiveness.

  • Works with the Associate Dean for Institutional Effectiveness and theAssociate Provost for Academic Affairsto create and implement a holistic assessment plan for continuous institutional improvement.

  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates assessment processes (mainly the student learning assessment and the administrative assessment). Facilitates meetings of the Outcomes Assessment Committee and the Administrative and Educational Support (AES) Assessment Committee.

  • Collects and analyzes assessment results, and reports to internal and external stakeholders. Assists with the analysis and development of assessment methods.

  • Evaluates the information needs of the Graduate Center faculty and staff. Works with the Associate Dean for Institutional Effectiveness to develop qualitative and quantitative information, data tools, as well as information dissemination platforms, to support assessment processes.

  • Oversees the dissemination of assessment information to the Graduate Center community and wider academic community via program web pages on the Graduate Center’s website.

  • Provides ongoing support for other assessment activities, such as the strategic plan assessment and program review.

  • Manages the content of the Graduate Center institutional research web page.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work in the office. All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to their campus (or office).

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a social science or science field with working knowledge on educational assessment.

  • Ph.D. degree in a social science or science field is a plus.

  • Strong writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to take initiative.

  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data (advanced Excel skills preferred).

  • Ability to facilitate work groups, and collaborate with others.

  • Ability to train others on complex processes.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Oversees collection and assessment of data for Institutional Research purposes.

  • Compiles, maintains, and analyzes institutional data in various formats

  • Produces reports and metrics based on department's needs; responds to time-critical ad-hoc requests

  • Loads, extracts, edits, and evaluates data for reporting and analytics

  • Maintains selected databases and document libraries, updating and ensuring data quality and accuracy

  • May participate in internal and external surveys as needed

  • May consult with others in designing methodology for research projects

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$52,267-$99,532/year. Salary commensurate with education and experience.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
