The Grove School of Engineering at The City College of New York is seeking highly qualified candidates for an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position who would develop and conduct research in the broad areas of Advanced Materials and Manufacturing, Robotics and Controls Engineering. The department is particularly interested in a candidate whose research intersects with the fields of metamaterials, AI, machine learning and additive manufacturing. It is anticipated the appointment will begin in Fall 2022.

The position would form part of the core faculty of the Mechanical Engineering Department. The candidate is expected to contribute to teaching in the Mechanical Engineering Department, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and also develop new courses. The Department has active research programs in Energy, Advanced Materials, and Robotics. The faculty member for this position would be expected to not only enhance the existing

research components, but also develop new areas of research especially in the fields of advanced materials and manufacturing, controls and robotics.


Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent as noted below. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.


The candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or another closely related field and have a potential for building up and raising funding for a significant R&D program. Those applying for an Associate Professor or Full Professor position should have established records in research that demonstrates nationally and internationally recognized expertise.
