POSITION DETAILS

The Office of Treasury Management (OTM) oversees four key financial areas for the University: Bursar, Cash Management, Payment Card Industry Compliance and Student Financial Aid Operations.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Financial Aid (SFA) Operations, Fiscal Management, the position supports federal loans and grants processing in the CUNYfirst PeopleSoft environment for 25 colleges and divisions. The Assistant Director troubleshoots system issues, ensures quality customer service to the colleges, performs timely reconciliation with the US Department of Education systems, and assures delivery of accurate and timely payments to students and compliance with federal Title IV, state, city and institutional guidelines for financial aid, scholarship, grant, and tuition refunds.

Duties include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Examine fiscal records, student accounts and related data for federal loans and grants, and resolve discrepancies with the University and the US Department of Education systems.

  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Federal financial aid programs, polices and regulations.

  • Review disbursement systems to ensure accurate and timely student refunds.

  • Perform data analysis, prepare reports as needed and prepare backup documentations for audits.

  • Research and evaluate issues raised by Colleges concerning processing, errors, enhancements and coordinates the communication of issues to appropriate technical and operations staff, committees and management; monitors issues through resolution.

  • Serve as a liaison to the University’s accounting, cash management, production support, IT and programming units for disbursement related tasks; including IT staff for daily processing.

  • Assist with Perkins Loan inquires.

  • Provide support for daily functions by running various processes and communicate with College staff as needed.

  • Coordinate training for the Colleges, develop and update training materials.

  • Attend and represent the department at various council meetings.

  • Interact with the Colleges, Central Office staff, internal and external auditors and administrators as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two of the four years working in financial aid and/or bursar environment.

  • Experience using PeopleSoft Campus Solutions modules and database management programs.

  • Working knowledge of financial aid Title IV regulations and programs.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Must be detail-oriented with strong analytical, technical and research skills.

  • Strong organizations skills with the ability to establish plans and manage a large workload and multiple assignments with conflicting priorities to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Must maintain integrity and confidentiality.

  • Conducts special projects and creates analyses and reports

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
