FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The SEEK Department at City College is a state-funded educational opportunity program for students who meet specific academic and income criteria. We are looking for an individual experienced in counseling for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. The successful candidate must be able to provide a range of counseling services, including personal, academic, and career counseling to a multi-culturally diverse population of students.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

• Manage, through individual and group counseling and related activities, the support service needs of a caseload of approximately one hundred-fifty students.

• Plan and teach the departmental sections of the New Student Seminar.

• Assist with course planning and registration.

• Develop and implement innovative program strategies to improve retention and graduation rates of SEEK students.

• Monitor students' academic performance and progress.

• Maintain records of student contacts.

• Engage in scholarly research and publication.

• Collaborate with a dynamic staff with a team-oriented approach.

• Contribute to a myriad of initiatives focused on academic intervention, counseling support, psychoeducation, and program marketing.

• Facilitate summer transitions workshops and pre-freshman activities.

• Serve on departmental-wide committees.

• Maintain records of student contacts.

• Perform other related duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

A Doctoral degree in Psychology to include Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs or a Master's degree in an appropriate discipline for personal or psychological counseling along with New York State licensure as a mental health practitioner (in social work, psychology, or mental health counseling)

Preferred Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in Psychology or related field to include Ph.D. and Psy.D. degrees in an appropriate discipline for personal or psychological counseling

Candidates with experience and expertise working with underrepresented minorities (URM), particularly males of color, are highly encouraged to apply.
