The Bernard & Anne Spitzer School of Architecture (SSA) at the City College of New York seeks

candidates for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Landscape Architecture at the Assistant

Professor level for an appointment commencing in Fall 2021. The Graduate Landscape Architecture

Program is situated within the Spitzer School of Architecture’s graduate degree programs, which include

the Master of Landscape Architecture, Master of Architecture, Master of Science in Architecture, Master

of Urban Design, and Master of Science in Sustainability. Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory and other functions.


Minimum Qualifications

Candidates for the Assistant Professor position should hold an accredited terminal degree in Landscape Architecture (a Master’s degree or PhD in Landscape Architecture, or a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and a terminal degree in a related field) and a professional license to practice Landscape Architecture.

Preferred Qualifications

The Graduate Landscape Architecture Program seeks an innovative Landscape Architect capable of

teaching graduate Landscape Architecture design studios and advanced seminars, with preferred areas of expertise including but not limited to the following: geospatial information systems mapping and data

analysis; two-and three-dimensional digital design representation, visualization, and animation;

fieldwork, sensing, and fabrication; and/or urban ecological systems theory.

Candidates are expected to be engaged in the advancement of the discipline of landscape architecture,

demonstrated through evidence of their outstanding design skills, experience in teaching studios and

seminars in landscape architecture, as well as the production of scholarly publications and/or a design

practice that exhibits a commitment to ecologically viable urban landscapes.
