FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor faculty position. The area of specialization is open, but we welcome candidates able to teach courses on American politics, political institutions, and public affairs, including urban politics (New York City politics especially welcome), inequality, race/ethnicity, immigration, non-profit organizations, and/or public opinion/voting,

We are especially interested in candidates with a commitment to teaching a diverse student population and promoting social mobility. A demonstrated interest and commitment to building more culturally and racially diverse organizations that are reflective of our society as a whole is also welcome.

The position requires teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in public affairs for the Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs and Master of Public Administration (BSPA/MPA) and other professional degrees offered by the Marxe School (Master in Science in Higher Education, Master in International Affairs, and Master in Science in Arts Administration). The position has a reduced teaching load until tenure.

NOTES:

All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to the tri-state area. Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline including Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, or Sociology. The candidate must have completed the doctorate or its equivalent prior to the teaching start date for the fall 2023 semester. Professional experience and a research agenda is required. Also required is evidence of teaching effectiveness.

The Marxe School welcomes candidates with a strong record of research and publication.

COMPENSATION

$99,532.
