The Hunter College School of Nursing is the flagship nursing school of the City University of New York and prepares nurses for 21st century practice in complex urban environments with diverse populations.

The School of Nursing invites applications for an Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will maintain an active program of research, develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute service to the school, college, university, and profession that is appropriate for their rank. We are particularly interested in those with specialization in health equity, community engagement and/or advanced nursing practic e. Additional duties include: responsibility for committee and department assignments, administrative, supervisory, and other functions as assigned.


Ph.D. (or equivalent) research degree. Also required are the ability to teach successfully and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.


Academic teaching and at least 5 years of nursing experience.

Educational requirement: Ph.D. (or equivalent) research degree as well as a Master’s degree in Nursing.

New York State license as a registered nurse.


Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.


Salary range: $51,242 to $97,580 commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience
