FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Mental Health Counseling M.A. program at the City College of New York (CCNY) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in child and adolescent counseling at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2022. The CCNY Psychology Department is a vibrant, diverse department located in Harlem, serving over 1500 undergraduate majors, with master’s programs in General Psychology and Mental Health Counseling, and an APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. The Mental Health Counseling program has a longstanding commitment to training professionals who address the needs of underserved and minority populations. The ideal candidate blends counseling experience in child and adolescent counseling with strong scholarly research interests in areas such as: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, and autism. Successful applicants will welcome participation in all programs the Department offers and be encouraged in interdisciplinary collaborations within the program and the department, and with local schools, the counseling center, the medical school, and local hospitals. They will be responsible for performing teaching, research, and mentorship/advisement duties. They also will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Ph.D. in Counselor Education or a related area is required. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the counseling profession through relevant professional memberships, professional development activities, service/advocacy, and scholarly work. The candidate is expected to maintain an active program of research, publish theoretical and empirical research in top-tier journals, be committed to both undergraduate and graduate education, and provide mentoring/advisement to mental health counseling students. Potential for obtaining external grant support is essential. Also required is the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
