POSITION DETAILS
The Associate Dean for Curriculum and Assessment will report to the Deputy Dean for Medical Education. Direct reports to the Associate Dean for Curriculum and Assessment will include: the Director of the Academic Coaching Program; the Course Administration Director; the Learning Management System Director; and the Learning Resource Center Director.
The Associate Dean for Curriculum and Assessment will collaborate with the Associate Dean for Clinical Medical Education to provide guidance and oversight for the medical education program throughout the entire 7-year BS/MD program. The Associate Dean’s duties will be carried out in cooperation with the faculty governance structure for the curriculum.
Specific areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Oversee the following units in the Medical Education department:
Learning Management System/ Course Assessment
Educational IT Course Administration
Learning Resource Center, The LRC provides leadership and guidance to offering academic support services to students
Academic Coaching program
Step 1/Step 2 coaching program
Registrar’s office
Digital and academic librarians
Faculty development focusing on improved teaching in undergraduate and medical school
Participating in monitoring and assurance of compliance with all related LCME and Middle States accreditation standards applicable to curriculum, assessment, mapping, faculty development.
Leading continuous curricular quality improvements which include:
Creation and oversight of standards for content and delivery of education
Development and monitoring of outcome measures for quality of education
Collaborating with the Associate Dean for Clinical Medical Education
Facilitating Problem Based Learning and/or Evidence Based Medical Practice.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
MD with a Medical Education focus
A minimum of 5 years of successful experience in medical school education
A distinguished record of innovative educational leadership
Experience and ability in managing administrative functions in the education area
Experience with LCME requirements and accreditation site visits
Proficiency in the principles and application of education theory and research to the design of courses and curricula in medical education
Critical skills and personal characteristics:
a full-time commitment to the position
proven leadership skills: ability to effectively supervise and motivate others
ability to understand diverse educational philosophies and to work with individuals/groups with conflicting views
superior oral and written communication skills; superior interpersonal and advising/counseling skills
ability to work with individuals and groups; ability to maintain confidentiality
excellent judgement and tact in dealing with constituencies both internal and external to the school

Salary range: $200,000 - $215,000
