In collaboration with eight of CUNY’s senior campuses, Macaulay Honors College (MHC) provides the most promising undergraduate students with an elite academic program of interdisciplinary seminars, personalized advisement, and experiential learning supported by dedicated funding for study abroad, internships, and research. Macaulay Honors College at CUNY seeks an experienced mental health professional for our Associate Director of Clinical Services position. The Associate Director of Clinical Services will work closely with the Associate Director of Wellness and Counseling to meet the needs of our students who require counseling, and improve access to psychoeducation and wellness services/practices for our general student population.

The Associate Director of Clinical Services is part of the Academic Affairs department at Macaulay. Reporting to the Director of Academic Affairs, s/he will provide psychological counseling to individual students and facilitate group counseling sessions.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Leads intake process for students who are engaging with the Wellness Center, including responding to initial consultation requests and coordinating receipt of consent forms and telecounseling Zoom links;

  • Performs crisis intervention for emergency situations;

  • Administers risk assessment and management of high-risk cases;

  • Consults with instructional and administrative staff regarding student mental health issues;

  • Coordinates student care with psychiatric services as needed;

  • Assists in planning, evaluating, assessing and marketing of Macaulay’s counseling services;

  • Recruits, supervises and develops a number of clinical interns as appropriate, with professional licensing;

  • Coordinates center activities, new initiatives, and outreach activities with Associate Director of Wellness and Counseling;

  • Participates in recommending improvements that will increase the effectiveness of wellness initiatives;

  • Authors and co-authors reports related to Center activities;

  • Ensures client satisfaction and responds to client complaints;

  • Develops an after-hours protocol to address student needs that arise outside business hours;

  • Collaborates with Associate Director of Wellness and Counseling to assign students to Wellness Center staff's caseloads as appropriate and determine discharge planning/termination of short-term services when indicated; and

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Doctoral degree in Psychology to include Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs

OR

A Master's degree in an appropriate discipline for personal or psychological counseling and a New York State license as a mental health practitioner (social work, psychology, or mental health counseling).

In addition, six years' professional experience is required for all candidates.

A preferred candidate should have:

  • Strong clinical practice skills, and familiarity with current trends in wellness, therapeutic methods, and best practices for working with diverse college populations.

  • Experience with higher education sector and honors students.

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
