POSITION DETAILS

In collaboration with eight of CUNY’s senior campuses, Macaulay Honors College (MHC) provides the most promising undergraduate students with an elite academic program of interdisciplinary seminars, personalized advisement, and experiential learning supported by dedicated funding for study abroad, internships, and research. With an entering class of approximately 2100 students distributed on campuses across the five boroughs of New York City, Macaulay’s student body embraces the diversity of New York and represents the best and brightest of our next generation of leaders.

Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean, The Associate Director of Wellness and Counseling will provide counseling and mental health services to Macaulay Honors students.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manages Macaulay’s wellness and therapy services, including intake and scheduling for individual counseling sessions, group therapy sessions, drop-in activities, and workshops;

  • Provides student counseling services;

  • Organizes Wellness Center activities and services with Lead Therapist;

  • Liaises with psychiatric services for patients who require it;

  • Conducts internal assessment and prepares reports;

  • Works with the Academic Affairs department on key issues such as staff and faculty awareness training, cross-campus communication, incorporation of wellness practices into teaching and learning initiatives, and emergency plans for on-site student mental health crises;

  • Liaisons with other CUNY counseling centers;

  • Develops and coordinates relationships with strategic partners inside and outside the University;

  • Participates in marketing of Center services; shapes long-term goals for the center

  • Oversees new initiatives and growth;

  • Works with Macaulay’s External Relations department on proposals, funding opportunities, and reports to stakeholders;

  • Provides clinical supervision of interns as appropriate with professional licensing;

  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

A Doctoral degree in Psychology to include Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs

OR

A Master's degree in an appropriate discipline for personal or psychological counseling and a New York State license as a mental health practitioner (social work, psychology, or mental health counseling).

In addition, six years' professional experience is required for all candidates.

A preferred candidate should be able work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
