GENERAL DUTIES

Conducts academic research in connection with CUNY programs; may assist faculty, staff, and students in conducting research and lead research efforts involving others.

  • Develops research plans and proposals and participates in acquiring funding

  • Collects, analyzes, and assures validity of data

  • Writes progress reports; writes and publishes findings

  • Collaborates with internal and external colleagues

  • Adheres to standards for safety and hygiene and ethical conduct as defined by the University and relevant outside parties

The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) at The City College of New York (CCNY) located in the heart of

Harlem, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system and the only public medical school

in Manhattan. Building upon 50 years of success as the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, we

transitioned to the CUNY School of Medicine in 2017. The CUNY SoM offers an accelerated BS/MD (7-year

program) and a Physician Assistant Master’s Degree (27 months program). True to its legacy of access,

opportunity, and community transformation, the medical school’s mission remains to recruit highly talented

students as diverse as New York City itself. CUNY School of Medicine as the home of healers and leaders,

places a special emphasis on the recruitment of those who are underrepresented in the field of medicine, and on

training high quality, culturally competent health professionals and scientists equipped to address the healthcare

needs of New York’s medically under-served communities. As a major priority, CUNY School of Medicine also

seeks to enhance the recruitment and retention of senior leadership, faculty, and staff to more closely reflect the

diversity of our student body.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Design, analyze, implement, and report findings on targeted statistical research studies; provide consultation to investigators and researchers on experimental design and statistical research approaches requirements, and scientific standards to advance medical knowledge and improve research in public health.

  • Work with investigators to formalize analysis plans and reporting specifications; advise on statisticalanalysis strategies, reliability of measurements, and identifiability of models; and interpret and present statistical results.

  • Build and sustains collaborative relationships with individuals in different disciplines and serve as a subject-matter expert for research teams, internal and external committees, and other constituencies and collaborators.

  • Assist in preparing clinical trial documents and reports, protocols, scientific abstracts, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and responses to requests from regulatory agencies and local Institutional Review Board.

  • Maintain complex statistical databases; performs or supervise data entry.

  • Use a variety of advanced statistical software, methods, and techniques to gather, analyze, and interpret research data to derive useful information for research data; advises and assists in developing inferences and conclusions, as appropriate.

  • Oversee and coordinate the work of statistical support staff, data entry staff, and students, as appropriate to the position, on a project, site, or operational basis.

  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Doctoral Degree in a related field and demonstrated research ability.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD degree in Statistics or Biostatistics

At least three years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
