The Bilingual Education Program at the School of Education at Hunter College invites applications for the position of Clinical Professor. This person will performteaching andresearchduties,whichmayincludeclinicalinstruction. ClinicalProfessorsarehighly-experiencedpractitionersorteacherswhoholdfull-time,non-tenure trackpositions. The successful candidate will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

Clinical professor will serve three major roles,beginning in Fall 2022: 1) Bilingual Education program faculty member supporting clinically-focused courses, 2) Instructional coach and supervisor for bilingual teacher candidates and mentor teachers at their placement sites, and 3) Liaison between Hunter College and NYCDOE school sites.

  • Prepare highly-effective teachers to develop a culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy

  • Maximize expertise of mentor teachers by facilitating ongoing training and support

  • Provide leadership as a coordinator, facilitator, mentor, and clinically-embedded instructor

  • Foster positive NYCDOE-University partnerships

Bachelor's degree and a record of achievement in a profession or field of expertise related to teaching assignments. Also required is the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

  • Master or Doctorate Degree in Education preferred

  • Professional Certification in Childhood Education with Bilingual Extension preferred

  • At least 5 years recent teaching in PK-6 Bilingual Education (Spanish/English) classroom

  • Strong communication (written/oral) skills in English & Spanish

  • Experience teaching university and graduate level courses

  • Familiarity with and commitment to deepen culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy

  • Experience mentoring student/novice teachers

  • Experience working with NYCDOE

Vaccine Requirement:

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.


Salary range: $49,521-$90,000 commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
