The CUNY Explorers Program partners with the NYC Department of Education to ensure that middle-school students have the opportunity to visit a college campus, via age-appropriate and customized visits, to promote high school, college, and life success. To advance its goal of providing customized and interactive college campus visits to seventh graders in all five boroughs at fifteen CUNY campuses, the CUNY Explorers Program is seeking a Program Knowledge Specialist to identify and implement ongoing program improvements, gather and analyze participation data and participation outcomes, create and disseminate communications, and provide comprehensive administrative support for program operations.

Reporting to the Director of Campus Engagement Programs, the Program Knowledge Specialist will: develop and implement a plan for knowledge management by creating effective tools and processes for gathering, organizing and disseminating information to internal and external audiences; analyze program activities and outcomes to identify trends for improvement; and participate in the general administration of program services. Key duties include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Identify key system and process improvements necessary for high-quality program execution and reevaluate on a regular basis to ensure accuracy and efficiency

  • Analyze and monitor expenses and coordinate contracts and payment schedules with the budget and administration team

  • Research current education trends and best practices to inform and evaluate program goals and activities

  • Create various knowledge products to document program activities and promote its successes (i.e. stories, presentations, briefs, reports, etc.)

  • Draft and update all internal and external digital and print communications including website and registration site

  • Organize and facilitate the logistics for various meetings, events and activities

  • Actively participate in the larger efforts of the program and the Office of K-16 Initiatives



Bachelor’s degree and four years’ related experience required.


  • Four years’ experience working in program operations, or communications in a public education institution, or public or non-profit agency

  • Experience planning and organizing complex multi-site projects and facilitating cross-functional groups

  • Broad understanding of NYC public school system, urban education policy issues, and the field of college and career readiness

  • Commitment to promoting college access and success in post-secondary education

  • Strong interpersonal communication, writing, and presentation skills

  • Project management experience, specifically designing and implementing databases, monitoring budgets and contracts, meeting deliverables, and measuring outcomes

  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills to devise and execute work plans, prioritize work, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Proactive, flexible, and customer focused to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, in a fast-paced work environment with diverse members of the university community and external constituents

  • Previous experience designing online survey systems and broadening social media presence


Participates in the daily coordination of academic and administrative activities of a College's specialized academic program under management direction.

  • Supports program development, student service delivery, outcome evaluation and instructor/student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.

  • Recommends, implements and evaluates strategies to expand program offerings

  • Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management

  • Develops and maintains relationships with various College offices to improve student and faculty services

  • Serves as resource expert regarding program policies and procedures

  • Oversees office recordkeeping; manages updates of program web and print materials

  • May supervise office operations and/or department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary is commensurate with education, qualifications and experience, up to $63,617.
