FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) at The City College of New York (CCNY), is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees in seven years. The school has a clinical curriculum that begins in the undergraduate portion and continues through graduation. The school is searching for a physician to work as faculty in this curriculum with a focus on clinical skills assessment and simulation. The Director of Clinical Skills Assessment will collaborate with other faculty in the pre-clerkship and clerkship curriculum and the associate dean for clinical medical education to accomplish:

  • Overseeing and running the summative OSCEs in the M2 and M3 year. Including selecting/ writing/updating cases and checklists; training standardized patients and grading the exams.

  • Working with the clerkship directors to deliver the clerkship OSCEs in the M3 year Including selecting/ writing/updating cases and checklists; training standardized patients and grading the exams

  • Developing and implement remediation plans for students who are not meeting expectations or performing poorly in clinical skills courses/OSCEs.

  • Teaching in PBLs or TBLS in the pre-clerkship curriculum supporting students in step 1 preparation

  • Participation in other related CUNY School of Medicine committees (ex. Admissions, Curriculum, SAPC, Ethics, etc.).

  • Participation in medical education research and/or other scholarly activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have a M.D. or D.O. degree.

Careers

  • Previous experience as medical school course director/ clerkship director with medical education for at least 5 years is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and experience with curriculum development is desired.

  • Successful candidate will have an ability to combine administrative, education, and teaching responsibilities.

  • The person in this position must also possess outstanding communication and leadership skills in working with faculty members at many clinical sites.

  • The person in this position must also be willing to participate in appropriate academic and scholarly activity to further the institution's contributions to medical education.

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
