Reporting to the Director of the Center for Career Development, the Employer Relations Coordinator is a key member of the Center for Career Development. The Center for Career Development prepares students for jobs and internships by providing students with all the necessary resources, tools and information to be successful in their future careers. The successful candidate will:

  • Work closely with the Employer Relations Manager and will serve as a liaison between the Center for Career Development and employers to develop strong partnerships around employment, internships, and experiential learning.

  • Aid in the expansion of the employer base and potential employment, internship, and experiential learning opportunities for BMCC students.

  • Assist in organizing on-campus recruiting, career fairs, and other events for employers and students to connect.

  • Process employer and job registration requests through our career services module.

  • Conduct presentations and workshops for students on the career development process and resources.

  • Advise students on the career development process and resources with an emphasis on matching student interests and skills with employment, internship, and experiential learning opportunities.

  • Assist in the development of employer recruiting policies and procedures.

  • Provide assistance with major college-wide events such as commencement, orientation, registration, and awards ceremonies, and various campus committees.

  • Participate in campus-wide retention and persistence outreach and activities.

  • Participate in special initiatives and projects for the Division of Student Affairs.

  • Provide students with excellent customer service, both in-person and electronically.

  • Perform other general administrative duties as assigned by the Director, including reports and other correspondence.


Bachelor's Degree required.

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Master’s preferred.

  • Knowledge of or connection with industry based partners in the lower Manhattan community and around the New York City area.

  • Experience with Symplicity or similar career management system.

  • Must possess a professional demeanor, strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.

  • Experience communicating effectively with employers, faculty, staff, and students.

  • Experience in producing professional presentation materials.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and work cooperatively within a team environment.

  • Experience working with a culturally diverse population preferred.

  • Strong social and organizational skills preferred.

  • Be a creative, dynamic individual who can work independently and under general supervision to provide courteous and accurate customer service to all students, visitors and campus community.

  • Candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Social Media.


Provides career counseling and participates in providing comprehensive career services programs.

  • Provides employment and career counseling to students; may provide services to alumni

  • Conducts workshops on resume writing, job search research methods, preparing for job interviews, and other topics

  • Administers online job posting and resume search systems

  • Coordinates on-campus recruitment programs and interviews; attends on and off-campus meetings with employers

  • Maintains systems such as job banks, resource databases, and placement statistics; analyzes data; maintains department web site

  • Coordinates career fairs and other career office events; prepares and distributes communications regarding events and programs

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary: $44,308 - $48,210
