The CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) at The City College of New York (CCNY), is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees in seven years. CSOM will graduate its first MD class in 2020. CSOM also has a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies (PA). Our mission is to provide access to medical education to talented youth from social, ethnic and racial backgrounds historically underrepresented in medicine and to develop health professionals committed to practicing in under-served communities with a special emphasis on primary care. Reporting to the Bursar for the City College of New York, the Enrollment Bursar Specialist will handle Bursar activities for the CUNY School of Medicine.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview duties, the Bursar Specialist's duties will include:

  • Administer the processing of transactions such as cash/check/money-order transactions and mailed-in payments

  • Review and reconcile student accounts in CUNYfirst (Peoplesoft)

  • Verify and collect CCB/Student Services deposit.

  • Complete monthly, quarterly and yearly detailed oriented Accounts Payable and Receivable statements.

  • Disburse payroll, financial aid replacement, and emergency loan checks.

  • Explain tuition bills as needed. Advise students on tuition payment options, college policies as they pertain to student accounts and assist with account resolution issues.

  • Answer student/faculty/staff inquiries or refer to appropriate office.

  • Prepare analytical and statistical reports related to various Bursar operations

  • Implement improvements to office operations that improve workflow and internal controls


Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience are required.


Administers a College student accounts function under management direction.

  • Administers processing, collection, reconciliation and maintenance of student receivables including cashier activities; supervises and approves refund process

  • Reviews student accounts; manages delinquent accounts in collaboration with collection agency

  • Advises students on tuition payment options and resolution process

  • Recommends and implements improvements to office operations; assists with strategic planning

  • Serves as resource reference to interpret and comply with University and College policies

  • Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management

  • May supervise office operations and/or department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
