The Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC) was established in 1966 by the State University of New York (SUNY) as the Urban Center in Manhattan, as a result of an act of the New York State Legislature. The MEOC has been funded by the State University of New York University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (SUNY-UCAWD) and administered by Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) of the City University of New York during its entire history. The Manhattan EOC delivers student-centered academic and workforce development programs and serves as a gateway to access further education, career achievement, personal growth, and self-sufficiency for adult learners in the NYC area.

Reporting directly to the Director of Operations or designee, the Enrollment Coordinator is a key member of the outreach and recruitment staff at the Manhattan EOC. Primary duties include coordination of recruitment efforts including on-campus and off-campus admissions information sessions (virtual or in-person); processing of admissions inquiries; maintenance of prospective learner relationships, and conversion of prospective inquiries into applicants and admitted students.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties will include:

  • Assists in the implementation of recruitment, admissions and enrollment goals, strategies, and initiatives; participates in and supports the planning of enrollment events

  • Utilizes the recruitment and enrollment services to support applicants from application to enrollment including, but not limited to the MEOC applicant and student record system (Banner), the reporting tool (Argos), and others such as LiveHelpNow, social media platforms, email, &/or text messaging.

  • Works closely with the various offices including Operations, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs to schedule and implement prospective learner outreach efforts

  • Performs related duties as assigned by Director of Operations or designee


Bachelor's degree required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous higher education and/or adult education experience highly preferred

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English is essential; ability to speak a language other than English that is one of the frequently spoken languages among our applicants and students such as Spanish, French, Chinese, Arabic, or other is highly preferred

  • Ability to work with a diverse population of applicants, students, faculty, and staff; strong understanding of the assets and challenges of individuals with backgrounds that are economically and academically underserved

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Knowledge of Microsoft® Office and database software; ability to maintain accurate, detailed and confidential records of prospective students, applicants, and students

  • Strong organization, project management, communication, and facilitation skills; ability to be manage one’s time effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines

  • Ability for some flexibility to provide coverage for recruitment and enrollment events throughout the year that are outside of the general working hours for this position (hours for this position are generally 11am to 7pm Monday – Thursday and 9am to 5pm on Friday)

Vaccine mandate:

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.


Supports student enrollment activities and processing in an Educational Opportunity Center program.

-Provides direct student services and works collaboratively with other units to support registration, payment, and related activities

-Interprets and communicates policies and procedures related to registration, student records, and related issues.

-Prepares reports and surveys based on enrollment data

-Counsels students, staff and faculty on academic registration, admissions, and related activities

-Manages student information databases and resolves issues with student records and transactions

-Ensures compliance with college, Federal, and New York State regulations and policies

-May supervise clerical and/or part-time staff and coordinate work schedules

-Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary: $43,520-$49,960
