CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Division of Science's Postbaccalaureate Health Professions Preparation Certificate program is designed for career changers who are passionate about achieving a career in medicine. This accelerated program allows students who have received Bachelor's degrees in fields other than a scientific discipline to complete the prerequisite courses that most medical and other pre-health programs require and provides to them intensive guidance, coaching, and support to help them to be successful in being admitted to a medical program and embarking on a career in medicine.

Reporting to the Dean of Division of Science, the Executive Director will be responsible for executing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the program including student recruitment and admissions; academic administration; alumni relations and engagement; partnership development; event planning and program logistics. The incumbent will work closely with the Director of Undergraduate Pre-health Advising and the Premedical Studies Coordinator and Assistant officer. Upon maturation of the program, a college assistant will be recruited to support the Postbac Health Professions Preparation program and will report to the Executive Director.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage, oversee and assess the effectiveness of the Program and career services offered to students and alumni; work with the students, faculty and advisors to assess various needs and plan responses that promote students’ academic success;

  • Participate in strategic curricular planning and assist with preparing new course proposals;

  • Manage the program budget processes, including planning and tracking semester expenditures; oversee the surcharge collection process; manage tax-levy and non-tax levy, and oversee room scheduling, purchases, and vendor selection

  • Plan, implement, and assess student recruitment strategies;

  • Manage admissions activities, Chair the Program Admissions Committee, review applications, and conduct admissions interviews; award financial assistance; and manage the on-boarding of new students; and liaise with CCNY Graduate Admissions Office, Registrar, Bursar, and Financial Aid office as needed

  • Develop and implement a wide variety of events, including program information sessions, the new student orientation, lecture series, and workshops;

  • Collaborate with Department Chairs in the Division of Science to recruit and on-board both full-time and adjunct faculty, college laboratory assistants and teaching assistants;

  • Participate in designing and implementing marketing strategies; ensure the program’s website is relevant and up-to-date; and oversee social media accounts and other online presence.

  • Liaise with the Office of the Dean to develop and execute fundraising campaigns, events, and financial, and operations management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have an advanced degree in liberal arts and sciences, counseling or a related field; experience with postbaccalaureate, career-changing students; be intimately familiar with the medical school application process; have an existing and growing network of clinical placement settings in the New York City area; have substantial experience with databases and other administrative software; and show strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.The candidate must be able to establish rapport and relate positively to people with a variety of interests, backgrounds, and points of view by using tact, diplomacy and discretion.
