FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of History at Hunter College, CUNY invites applications for an Open Rank (full-time, tenure-track/tenured) position in European history, 1500-present. The department welcomes applicants in any area of geographical or chronological specialization who can build on our existing departmental strengths. The anticipated start date Fall 2023.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor:

A PhD in history is required at the time of appointment. We seek applicants who have the ability to cooperate with faculty, students, and staff of all backgrounds for the good of the institution, and who are committed to encouraging and supporting our highly diverse student body.

Candidates must demonstrate excellence or strong promise of excellence in both research and teaching. The position includes the opportunity, subject to need, to teach in the History Department’s Master’s program.

VACCINE REQUIREMENT

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience

Assistant Professor: $52,267 - $99,532

Associate Professor: $67,784 - $117,805

Full Professor: $83,878 - $141,858
