CUNY Faculty Open Rank - Latino/a or Latinx Cultural Studies (Africana and Puerto Rican/Latino Studies) in New York, New York


The Department of Africana and Puerto Rican/Latino Studies at Hunter College seeks a mid-career or senior scholar (Associate, or Full Professor) for a faculty position beginning in fall 2019. Fields of specialization are open, but preference will be for candidates with primary research and teaching interests in the areas of Latino/a or Latinx Cultural Studies. The successful candidate would possess a demonstrated research agenda that critically explores either popular culture, literary expressions, social media, technology, racialization, performance and performativity in Latino/a/x Diasporic communities. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.

Ph.D. degree at the time of appointment. Applicants should hold a PhD in Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Literature, Sociology or any of the equivalent fields of the social sciences or humanities. Demonstrated scholarship, service and collegiality. Excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
