The Accounting, Audit and Compliance Office of the Department of Finance and Business Services is the custodian of accounts for College entities with funding not allocated through NYS Budget appropriations. These entities are identified as non-tax levy funding sources. The unit manages the College Depository, the Auxiliary Services Corporation, Inc. and the John Jay College Foundation, Inc. and provides oversight for the Student Activities Association, Inc. and the Children’s Center of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Inc.
Reporting to the Director, the Finance Coordinator will provide the full range of support as outlined in the CUNY title overview and in addition will:
Assist the Accounting team with certain assignments in monthly reconciliation and analysis of College bank accounts, electronic funds, cash receipts, transfers and investments;
Review, code and verify the supporting documents for payment processing and support to post revenue;
Create and post accounts payable vouchers to the University’s and College’s accounting systems;
Make book adjustments for investments;
Identify corrections to properly classify expenditures and revenue in the University’s and College’s accounting systems:
Prepare various schedules for annual entities’ audits and assist in check distribution
Investigate, follow-up and resolve issues associated with vendors and account administrators;
Provide financial reports to account administrators;
Prepare ad hoc queries and reports as requested
CUNY anticipates a return to fully onsite work in January 2022. This position is based in New York, NY.
Bachelor's Degree required.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required with Accounting coursework
Two years' related experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, in particular excel
Proficiency in enterprise resource planning tools, such as CUNYfirst
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Performs financial analysis and administrative work related to College or unit accounting.
Prepares, reconciles and distributes expenditure and related accounting reports
Creates and maintains various spreadsheets related to financial analysis
Processes and tracks transactional entries
Provides support in the administration of various business operations
Coordinates with various departments on accounting matters
Monitors systems and operations to assure a smooth workflow
Performs related duties as assigned.
