POSITION DETAILS
The Finance Specialist will report to the Director of Accounting and will work closely with the Development Office. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Finance Specialist will:
− Perform general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and adjusting journal entries
− Record donation and pledge revenue using Blackbaud Raisers Edge & Financial Edge Accounting software
− Reconcile batch uploads to ensure accuracy in both modules
− Preparing, compiling and maintaining monthly reconciliations supporting the financial statement
− Review and perform functions with, Foundation credit card accounts, Merchant Services, Payroll deductions, monthly bank reconciliation, and fee charges for donations
− Assists with the operations associated with year-end procedures, annual audits and other financial functions
− Maintain accuracy of charges, credits, payments and refunds
− Reviewing miscellaneous cash receipts entries for proper coding and agreement to bank deposits
− Support the Accounting Director to improve internal controls and streamlining processes
− Responsible for creating a culture of data quality by following and establishing quality assurance protocols, processes, documentation
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.
Other Qualifications:
− Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance
− Experience with fundraising software such as Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge and Accounting software, such as Blackbaud’s Financial Edge
− Non-profit experience
− Familiarity with FASB and GASB accounting standards
− Knowledge of gift pledge accounting and endowments
− Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines, ability to manage multiple complex tasks and/or projects simultaneously, and ability to maintain composure under pressure
− Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience compiling financial statements and accounting for complex transactions
VACCINE REQUIREMENT:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
Please note: Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work in the office.

Salary Range: $62,411 to $75,465; Salary commensurate with education and experience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.
If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
