The CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) at The City College of New York (CCNY), is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degrees in seven years. CSOM will graduate its first MED class in 2020. CSOM also has a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies (P.A.). The CSOM is seeking applications for a Financial Aid Coordinator who will be responsible for advising and providing financial aid information (Federal and State) to students and their families. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Coordinator will assist in coordinating financial literacy and debt management workshops.He/She will provide student-centered services to a diverse population, advising on the process, eligibility, and programs as well as verify data on student financial aid applications.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties include:
Advise students on the financial aid process and matters concerning the cost of attendance and available resources
File management, record keeping, and document imaging
Coordinate debt management/financial literacy and Exit Interview workshops
Manage student information databases and resolve issues with student records and transactions
Serve as secondary liaison for CSOM, representing the Financial Aid office at various meetings, workshops, and orientations, both on- and off-campus as needed
Bachelor's degree is required.
Comprehensive knowledge of Federal and New York State financial aid regulations and processes highly desirable
Team player with excellent interpersonal, communication (writing and oral), customer service, problem-solving, and organizational skills
The ideal candidate will be student-centered, with a strong commitment to service and the ability to work independently
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Coordinates financial aid procedures and activities and provides financial aid information.
Schedules workshops, reviews applications, establishes pay cycles, disburses funds and resolves disbursement problems, and records awards, disbursements and returns
Coordinates, verifies and resolves problems regarding the disbursement of scholarships and grants by verifying student eligibility, establishing pay cycles and reviewing pay-outs
Reconciles accounting and disbursement schedules
Provides data for financial aid and donor reports as needed
Supports the College's enrollment management efforts by providing financial aid information to prospective students, their families and their high school counselors
Serves as liaison between the college and direct loan providers
Performs related duties as assigned.
