The Treasury Management Office is responsible for managing the University's cash flow. It includes Cash Management, Investment Services, Bursar and Student Financial Aid (SFA) Disbursements. Cash Management includes maintaining and managing banking relationships, issuing guidance on cash and banking matters; developing cash flow forecasts; managing the centralized collection of tuition and fees; and prudently investing the University's working capital. Investment Service includes management of the University's Investment Pool, ongoing due diligence of existing and prospective managers, administration, accounting and client service for the pool participants.

This position reports to the Associate Director of Cash Management within the Treasury Management Office. The Financial Analyst performs financial and investment analysis work to support the prudent management of Cash and Investment. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, other duties and responsibilities include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Review and update daily bank and investment activities;

  • Review and identify cash receipts and disbursement variances, process cash transfer request to the colleges, and participant withdrawal request;

  • Process Federal drawdown in G5 system based on request from SFA Operations;

  • Review the weekly pay cycle request from SFA Operations against cash balance available at the bank;

  • Perform record keeping and administrative functions for the participants of the CUNY Investment Pool;

  • Review and maintain financial/investment schedules, and conduct financial analysis to ensure completeness and accuracy;

  • Review and reconcile monthly and quarterly investment performance reports; support in the development and implementation of spending policy, including all related analysis, reporting and communications, and prepare various financial and management reports for senior management review;

  • Updates portfolio due to changes in asset allocation and re-balancing efforts;

  • Serve as a backup to others in the Cash Management and Investment Service team;

  • Perform related ad-hoc reporting and analysis and participate in other special projects as assigned;


Bachelor's Degree required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of related financial or business experience.

  • Familiarity with Not-for-Profit participant accounting and New York Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (NYPMIFA).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

  • Experience with ERP Management System preferred

  • Working knowledge of New York State Statewide Financial System (SFS), New York City Financial Management System (FMS), online banking platforms such as Citi Business Online, Citi Direct and My State Street preferred

  • Must be able to work effectively and multi-task in a demanding and fast-paced team environment

  • Must have a high degree of accuracy and be detail-oriented

  • Proven ability to work on tight deadlines and deliver quality results

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Customer service oriented


Performs financial analysis and administrative work related to College or unit accounting.

  • Prepares, reconciles and distributes expenditure and related accounting reports

  • Creates and maintains various spreadsheets related to financial analysis

  • Processes and tracks transactional entries

  • Provides support in the administration of various business operations

  • Coordinates with various departments on accounting matters

  • Monitors systems and operations to assure a smooth workflow
