POSITION DETAILS

The CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) at The City College of New York (CCNY), is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degrees in seven years. CSOM will graduate its first MED class in 2020. CSOM also offers a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies (P.A.). Our mission is to provide access to medical education to talented youth from social, ethnic, and racial backgrounds historically underrepresented in medicine and to develop health professionals committed to practicing in under-served communities with a special emphasis on primary care. The Human Resources Coordinator reports to the Human Resources Generalist. In addition to the CUNY Title overview, additional responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and execute various personnel transactions involving employee record-keeping, recruiting, processing of new hires, and pay administration; Submit supporting documents and information to Central Office Payroll and State Payroll Office for further processing

  • Conduct employee on-boarding processes such as: contacting candidates regarding pre-employment requirements, coordinating on-boarding meetings, verification of credentials, and other related activities

  • Maintain and update employee records in CUNYfirst.

  • Generate reports from CUNYfirst /Payroll Interface to identify data discrepancies, sources and cause of error

  • Serve as payroll liaison for the CSOM, with campus and University partners

  • Create personnel files; ensuring that all HR files and records are accurate and up-to-date. Actively participate in the office’s record retention program in accordance to CUNY’s Retention schedule

  • Respond to internal and external inquiries; address or route inquiries to appropriate staff members accordingly

  • Work closely with St. Barnabas and clinical partners in the processing of affiliated medical faculty

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior CUNY/higher education HR experience strongly preferred

  • Proficiency in CUNY First (Oracle/PeopleSoft systems) preferred

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Products such as Word, Excel, and Access

  • Strong organizational skills; detail-oriented and ability to multi-task

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Ability to handle competing priorities effectively

  • Exceptional customer service

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Provides information and services to the College community to support the Human Resources function.

  • Prepares and executes various personnel transactions involving employee recordkeeping, processing of new hires, pay administration, and recruiting

  • Maintains an understanding of policies, procedures, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements relevant to human resources

  • Organizes and processes employee information; develops and maintains reports and queries; assures data accuracy and completeness

  • Responds to requests for information; troubleshoots issues, follows up and responds to employee inquiries

  • Assists HR managers with employee communications of all kinds; may prepare materials, conduct orientation sessions, or update web pages

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
