Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, the HR Coordinator performs comprehensive human resources duties and may be assigned to specialize in human resources functions related to onboarding, front-facing contact person for HR information, assistance, and timely workflows of accurate information and transactions. Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing of new hire documents and conducting onboarding for all Civil Service and Adjunct lines.

  • Confirming employment eligibility; managing I-9 Tracking database for all PT employees.

  • Responding to routine inquiries regarding general Human Resources matters.

  • Providing information on the HR processes to the college community as directed.

  • Assisting with arrangements for special events (e.g., conferences, reservations of rooms, travel arrangements, catering services, informing the relevant departments/units, etc.).

  • Communicating with other academic or administrative departments to coordinate PT employee hiring processes.

  • Preparing Human Resource mailings within or outside CUNY and arranging special mail services.

  • Managing annual evaluation process for PT Classified staff.

  • Obtaining relevant PAFs, checking for accuracy, and distributing accordingly.

  • Supervising the front desk staff.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Bachelor's Degree required.


  • Knowledge of CUNY Human Resources processes.

  • Detail-oriented and accurate with strong analytical, evaluative, and research skills.

  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills, prioritizing work, managing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines in a time-sensitive office.

  • Strong work ethic and character with a high degree of personal integrity to work with the utmost discretion, maintain confidentially and safeguard employee information, and handle documents with sensitivity and discretion.


Provides information and services to the College community to support the Human Resources function.

  • Prepares and executes various personnel transactions involving employee recordkeeping, processing of new hires, pay administration, and recruiting

  • Maintains an understanding of policies, procedures, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements relevant to human resources

  • Organizes and processes employee information; develops and maintains reports and queries; assures data accuracy and completeness

  • Responds to requests for information; troubleshoots issues, follows up and responds to employee inquiries

  • Assists HR managers with employee communications of all kinds; may prepare materials, conduct orientation sessions, or update web pages

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
