CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Vice Chancellor for Human Resources Management unit is responsible for developing and implementing human resources guidelines, standards, rules and regulations. The Office enforces federal, state and local employment laws and ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreements with the several unions representing the University’s instructional and classified civil service staff members. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Human Resources Management, the HR Investigator is a part-time position and conducts comprehensive investigations of allegations and complaints ranging from discrimination, sexual misconduct, employment related improprieties and unethical conduct complaints and other human resources related concerns and facilitates resolutions.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Conducts in-depth investigations and fact-finding interviews using appropriate action plans, investigation methods and interview techniques, including in conjunction with a college or University-level office.

  • Drafts investigative reports documenting methods, findings, evidence, conclusions and recommendations.

  • Mediates employee grievances, negotiates settlements, contracts and informal resolutions.

  • Responds and reports to governmental agencies regarding complaints.

  • Drafts and updates University’s Investigation Manual for Chief Diversity Officers and Title IX Coordinators.

  • Develops, implements and oversees multi-faceted training for effectively conducting and documenting investigations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification in Human Resources, Mediation and/or Dispute Resolution preferred.

  • Experience in unionized environments a plus.

  • Broad experience conducting investigations and using various interview methods and techniques.

  • Knowledge of relevant State and Federal employment laws and government compliance requirements applicable to human resources.

COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
