POSITION DETAILS

The Institutional Research Manager will report to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. The position is a part of the student service and enrollment management team and is responsible for the data and reporting needs and maintaining division-wide information, workflow processes, and strategic initiatives/projects to increase departmental effectiveness. The candidate will provide functional leadership for current and new technologies that enhance division-wide operations and streamline internal business processes, testing, functional support and training, project management, and documentation. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Institutional Research Manager will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Manages a team that provides data, reports and analysis for decision-making in the Division of Students Affairs

  • Designs and develops standardized operational, management, and ad hoc reports for use by senior university leadership.

  • Prepares reports related to various enrollment management benchmarks using CUNYFIRST, CRM systems, Navigate and other University and Colleges systems

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with various staff across the institution to ensure data management services are responsive to meet needs in a timely manner.

  • Prepares, extracts and validates student data for internal and external agencies

  • Serves as a resource in the areas of data management and reporting and as a representative on university committees

  • Identifies appropriate data resources and metrics to support the analytic and reporting requirements

  • Translates data into actionable information by linking data and analytic results with the decision making processes at various levels

  • Performs needs assessment activities and works with other information systems personnel to determine feasibility of development of new databases and/or enhancements or modifications to existing databases.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in PeopleSoft, Anthology, Navigate and NextGen preferred

  • Programming experience using mainframe computer systems

  • Extensive knowledge of software packages and capabilities, programming languages and job control and processing techniques.

  • Ability to work with various operating systems, data storage and retrieval mechanism and database environments.

  • Substantial knowledge and/or experience in subject area or programs specific to department to be served.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative with regard to both technical and subject area functions.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Manages College institutional research programs and studies related to the College's mission.

  • Develops relevant, timely and accurate institutional information to administrators, the college community, the external community, and external agencies.

  • Defines and implements research studies, designing and conducting data analyses and analyzing and interpreting results.

  • Researches, develops and recommends policy analyses relevant to anticipated institutional planning, policy, and decision-making needs.

  • Participates in college-wide strategic planning, institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment tasks.

  • Respond to data, table and report requests from college constituencies.

  • Manage surveys, questionnaires and other data-gathering instruments administered by the Office.

  • Manages a library of institutional planning and research documents.

  • May consult with faculty and students in the design of databases for research projects

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience.($67,784 - $86,645)
