GENERAL DUTIES

I.T. Assistants perform entry-level professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Assistants work in areas such as development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar based on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include resolving minor technology problems, monitoring activities, and maintaining documentation. They have latitude for independent initiative and judgment, under supervision.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Instructional Computing and Information Technology (ICIT) at Hunter College is seeking

an IT Assistant, Level 1 to support the College’s role in as a Project Coordinator/VIP

Support. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of User Services. The

position of Project Coordinator/VIP Support Technician entails IT maintenance and

operational matters, end-user support services and special projects and initiatives. The

Project Coordinator/VIP Support Technician must possess technical proficiency, a

commitment to working as a member of a support team and dedication to customer

service.

In addition to the General Duties, duties and responsibilities include but are not limited

to:

• Provides VIP and executive support.

• Provisions, deploys, and troubleshoots desktop and notebook PC’s and Mac’s, printers,

and other peripherals.

• Diagnoses and resolves software and hardware issues, across operating systems

(Windows 7/10 and Mac OS X) both in-person and remotely via BeyondTrust.

• Responds to the users via phone, in-person and/or email concerning their IT hardware,

software and resources and ensures issues are addressed and resolved expediently and

with proper documentation.

• Participates in the development of appropriate procedures and technical documentation

in support of the user services operation.

• Responsible for creating, customizing, deploying and automating software packaging

and patching using SCCM.

• Maintains and updates assigned requests using Service Desk ticketing system(

FootPrints/ServiceNow).

• Manages, provisions, deploys and supports smartphones and tablets.

• Manages and tracks all aspects of IT project implementations including requirements,

design, development, test, installation and delivery.

• Acts as a technical resource to other members of the team as a participant of cross

functional project teams.

• Adheres to all Hunter College ICIT policies and procedures

• Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

  2. A minimum of six months of full-time experience in a computer or technology-related position. Experience that is more than 20 hours per week and less than 35 hours per week may be counted at 50% of the requirement (i.e., two months of part time experience equal to one month full time experience)

  3. Additional experience and/or education that can be met by ONE of the following: An additional three years and six months of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; an Associate's degree plus 18 months of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

  4. Demonstrated English Language proficiency

  5. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This title has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include;

  • Ability to learn and support new services

  • Knowledge of Hunter and/or CUNY supported services

  • Ability to develop a variety of approaches for problem solving

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills for service delivery

COMPENSATION

New Hire: $49,211 *

Incumbent: $55,608

This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of

employment only.
